Our Patroness is Mrs Neilmar C Fraser, Life Member of our Club. Neilmar was President of the Canterbury Ladies Kennel Association for 25 years and was a founding member of the club.
The Canterbury Ladies Kennel Association runs two Championship Shows each year, usually the first weekend of March. Our shows are held at the Canterbury Kennel Centre, McLeans Island. In 2011, our shows will be held on the 5 & 6 March weekend. The schedule is in the November 2010/January 2011 NZ Dog. Our main sponsor at these shows again is Bosch in conjunction with Petz and we are very grateful to them for their support.
We provide well-run shows with good judges, usually a mix of Australian and New Zealand, and excellent prizes. Our judges for the 2011 shows are: Annette and Doug Bowe from NSW, Jenny Hamilton from Christchurch, Gary Carleton from Te Horo (Saturday only) and Bruce Anderson from Napier (Sunday only). Please note that the earlybird entries for these shows are $12 per entry per show for the first two entries, discounted to $10 per dog per show for third and subsequent entries. Earlybird stakes entries are $10 per puppy. Entries postmarked later than 4 February will be $14 per dog per show for all entries, including puppy stakes. We are an All-Breeds Club, and our members have a diverse range of breeds. For our committee, there are Boxers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Keeshonds, and Papillons. Breeds owned by other members of our club, including Life Members, include Shih Tzus, Whippets, German Shepherds, West Highland White Terriers and Welsh Corgis (Pembroke).
Our membership fee is $10 per year. Two or more members residing at the same address $15 Household Membership. A Joining Fee of $5 is payable on new membership applications, but only one joining fee is payable per family.
